My name is Rebecca Kelly. I'm a commercial lawyer with over twenty years experience. I also am the owner of several businesses. Notably, Pickering Professional Services Limited, my consultancy business and shizl Limited, a web based platform which enables businesses to generate customised legal and compliance documents. I am also co-author of the LegalTech Book.

I have been operating as a consultant solicitor for ten years. My core areas of specialism are commercial, tech and data protection law.
I have been practising as a qualified lawyer since 2002 and I love what I do (someone has to!). I trained and worked, post qualification, at a top 50 law firm in London and moved to Leeds in 2004.
I generally work for owner managed businesses and SME businesses operating with a turnover of £5-£50million. A particular niche is that I operate as an 'external' in house lawyer for many of my clients. it means clients have access to legal support whenever they need it, without the expense of employing someone. This means I get to know a business in depth, getting under the skin of how the business operates. This results in pragmatic, commercial legal advice based on assessed risks.

shizl Limited was established in 2021 by me and my two other co-founders. shizl is a legal document production platform, which enables businesses to customise legal and compliance documents in a simple, affordable manner.
Why shizl?
shizl was founded by three lawyers. We felt legal services, whilst important were simply too expensive for many businesses. We felt all businesses should have access to good, high quality, well-drafted legal documents that were simple to access and easy to understand. We knew businesses wanted to have the protections in place afforded by good legal documents, but many businesses could not justify the cost. They were also intimidated by lawyers. So we created shizl.com.
On shizl you can access the legal and compliance documents your business needs either on demand, or using our subscription model. The platform helps you build your document and explains each document to you as you create it so you know exactly what you are signing up to. It also allows you get those documents signed electronically and to store the documents in your shizl portal. Simple. Easy. Affordable,
